Another asset of the Wichita Mountains great for wildlife photography opportunity is the Prairie Dog Town. Unlike others black-tailed prairie dog colonies I’ve been to, at the southern plains region of Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, you can get close to burrowing rodents at level camera angle; and there’s no wired fence blocking the view.
